I don't have it yet but very soon I will be the owner of a low mile 72 Hilux. Looking forward to tapping the knowledge contained on this forum. I'm also presently in progress on a 74 RA21 Celica: Rat's Ride - 1974 RA21 Celica - Rebuild, Restore, Re-enjoy It has an 18rc right now but will be getting a 22re. So I have a rebuilt carb, new fuel pump, plugs and wires and a few other bits that can go in the truck already. I'll post pics when I have them.
welcome to the site, hope to see some pics of the truck when you get it, what kind of shape is it in?
ez jeta it was hard for me to do pics when i first got here. give him a min. or do we need a muzzle (grill) for you.
So.. it's been a while but I actually DO now have a 72.5 Lux! Here's some pics: Coming Home Dirty Clean.. but a bit of surface rust on the floor Backside of the original window sticker. Now framed and on the wall of our office. Maintenance AND GAS records from mile 0 in late 1972 all the way up to 157k in 1997 Many more pics here 1972 Toyota Hilux RN22 - a set on Flickr Moar pics! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 334&type=1 So the plans Exterior - replace missing or broken bits.. Grill.. Taillight bezels.. Other small stuff. Paintless dent repair for the bed. Simple surface rust removal in some spots. Have the gearheadshirts.com logos put on both doors then polish and wax the crap out of it to protect the bare spots. Interior. Remove the dash pad. Take everything out. And clean it up inside. Cover the seat bottom with a blanket for now until i can get it recovered. Sweet custom piston gear shift knob Suspension. Just rebuild for now along with a disc brake upgrade up front. Already have the parts to do it. Engine.. 18rc runs and drives fine as it is. I have a 22re all torn apart that was going to go in my RA21 but i have since decided to go full out with an RG in the future instead so that may find its way into t he lux since th 18rc in the hole has 159k.. How do i know for sure its not just 59k you ask? Look at the pics.... Full service records from the original owner for EVERY service AND FILL UPS! EVERY ONE! I have to keep my own notebook now... How could i not? Also have the window sticker, orig manuals AND an unsigned over cali title. The girl who sold it didn't even know it was in there! Which reminds me.. If any of you cali guys knows a donald lapage of paradise ca... Have him give me a call Now.. question of the day.. I don't have my manual yet and I'm replacing the front tie rods. I need torque specs for the tie rod ends and the clamps on the sleeves if anyone has them.
Wow ... That's nice ... Looks like you have your work cut out for ya, but well worth it ... Hope to see that build thread soon ...
They should call them blood threads instead.. truck drew its first of my blood today. Knuckles. Swinging a 3lb hammer at a pickle fork aimed at a stuck as hell tie rod end.. smashed them on the drum.. not cool. BUT. The new tie rods are on and man oh man did I ever mess up the alignment Gonna have to take a crack at getting it at least close tomorrow so I can drive it in for a real alignment at some point soon. Ok.. I'll save the rest for my new build thread.
OUCH !!! Ok, For everybody else, we'll call it 'build thread' ... But for you only, it's 'blood thread' from now on ... Guess you earned that at least ... LOL ... Lookin' forward to seein' it, with as little blood as possible tho ...
