What oil and filters do you use in your pickups?

    i use castrol syntec blend in my motor and it runs great. 10w40

    Amsoil 10-30 full synthetic. Royal purple is the worst oil u culd put in ur car. Id rather put water to be honest.

    castrol high mileage. and a wix oil filter. now that my wife works at a toyota dealership im going to be using the toyota filters. better for starts i was told.

    rotella 15w40 and a fram filter in my big rig its highest zink of all oils and its geat for new or rebuilt engine break ins ,,,

    I never used Royal purple nor shall I ever.





    Glad you guys are using synthetic though, that stuff lasts longer in HOT and COLD, we're talking about the oil itself in either conditions.

    So 10w-30 is not to thin for these motors? I would love to run some of that.

    it says on my oil cap, 10W-30, and my owners manual.

    10W is on the cold weight, the second is the warm/ hot weight.

    I'm not sure if there was a difference in the cold, but i used 5W-30 for a winter, went back to 10W-30 and stayed that way.

    my OCI's are only 5k right now and I feel that i'm short living the filters I use.

    The Toyota D1 size filters for our trucks have 160sq.in. of material. My PL30001 has 400sq.in....

    I might use my filter for every two OCI's?

    Shell rotella is the very best oil there is
    Used in 99% of semi trucks
