I have seen rumors of using an early 80's Supra mass air flow sensor on the 22re will allow better flow than the restrictive 22r MAF. Have any one here heard or tried this? Hunting for one now so I can try what I find out!!!!

    Thanks ahead of time....

I have actually tested the 82 supra may on the Dyno and compared it to the stock 22re. And you actually lose hp. Don't waste your money on it like I did. Need proof? Look at my Dyno thread

With the 7MGTE Supra engine, if you use a Lexus V8 maf and 550cc injectors you gain power. It's a know fact. And they always go hand in hand. Nobody ever does just the maf. Just sayin maybe that's why there was no gain.

If you pull the air filter off and look inside the MAF, you will see a small square opening with a flapper against it. So it doesnt matter what size air filter or cold air intake you have because still have to squeeze that air thru the 2-3 inch opening. From my understanding, the early 80's Supra had a 3 inch round opening that would flow better and more air than the stock 22r MAF. I am not sure but have heard it is a direct plugin to the harness!! I have header, cold air intake, LC Eng. stage 3 head, ignition so far and want to free up the intake flow more...

There are alot of different ways to modify the stock 22re AFM itself.. Or
to modify the 1982 5M-GE Celica Supra to work with the 22re and make better power... I wish i could remember where I saw that thread.. I think it was thruogh yota tech... anyways you take out the internals of your 22re AFM and place them into the 5M-GE AFM and you get the best results.. Hope this helps , I'll post the link when I find it...
