    Wassup TMers

Was wondering if the STS kit for 89-95 will fit on my 85 SR5 5spd or will I have to convert to the 90's 5speed?

    Thanks

    @Cinnamon: The one LCE offers.

@oldSchool: Gear ratio?? I'm talking about short throw shifter.

Not sure if the STS kit designed for 89-95 5spd will bolt up to my 855spd.

    Shoot

OH! I'd give them a call. I personally have a feeling it should work (assuming the 85 has the same 5spd as a 89-95)

i looked and it seems to consist of a spacer, a shifter, a gasket, and the bolts.
and the spacer provided looks like it should work on most W5x 5spds.

    what transmission is yours?

I have no idea. I do believe its the stock 5speed that came with the truck.
I'll have to look into it and see how I can confrim what I have on now.

    Any clues??

If it is stock, it will be printed on the plate in the engine compartment on the firewall.. it wil be the bottom row of numbers, and last set of underlined numbers in that row. It will probably say w55 or something to that effect..

IF ITS A PUSH AND TURN STICK UP HAVE,IT SHOULD WERK OUT FINE.
NOW IF YOU GOT THE 4 SIZE 10mm BOLTS,THEN THEY WILL NOT WERK OUT AT ALL.

    This^^...

A hacksaw works good too for shortening... Also put in a new bushing and coupler and it should tighten up the shifts a bit... :waytogo:

I believe with the 90s u have to push down the stick and turn it to remove where the other models are bolts.
The truck is still being painted but once its out I'll check it out.

Are we talking about the shifter if so you dont push down on the stick you push down on the domed cap that faces up end turn it about an inch to the left and it will pop out. push down with a flat head and tap it over.

Nam when you installed your W58 the shifter is held down by 4 size 10mm bolts in the shift tower correct?

The SS kit in question uses a push down an twist style cap to hold down the shifter inside the shift tower...

The reason they won't interchange is the pivot ball on the shifters are different in size other than the way the shifter is held in the tower...

Hope those better explains it, sorry no pics...

I gotcha. Yeah, my W58's shifter hole sits back further than the W5x's you guys encounter.

Your shifter is probably more center and forward than mine, hence it would allow to use that 6 bolt spacer that's shown in LCE's page.
