Hey everyone! I searched and couldn't find the answer, so I'm hope I'm not duplicating threads, here.

I'm interested in lowering my '89 and want to know what tire size I can get away with.

I want to use Belltech 2" drop spindles and 3" lowering leafs and want to know if my 215/60/16 tires are too big and may rub the fenders. I'm thinking I'll have to try and find 4WD front fenders. Thoughts?

Here is my truck with my worn 225/60/16 tires.

i like the explorer wheels on there. it will be close. i ran 225/60/15s on my old 15x8 baby moons. i was going to drop it but the backspacing on the wheel was to much. i just ordered 15x7s and 225/50/15 tires. also doing a 2" spindle 3" leaf drop. should have it done this weekend. hopefully. i'll post up pics when im done.

those wheels look pretty nice on there... iDont think it'll be too bad with only a 2" drop in the front. to me, smaller tires(lower profile) might look better but its up to u. iThink the inner fenderwell would be more of an issue instead of the fender itself. but 4x4 fenders do look really nice:waytogo:

I have 215/60/16's in the rear of my truck and they used to be in the front of my truck. They don't rub much at all with my ~6/6 drop. I also have 4wd fenders in the front.

If you want to keep the current width, I suggest you find a 225/50/16. That will be a pretty good size without compromising sidewall height or highway rpm's too much.

I have 205/40/16's in the front, too skinny in width and sidewall for me. I have 215/60/16's in the rear, nothing wrong, just wish the sidewall was a 50.

Remember, the sidewall aspect ratio is just a % of the width section.

    X/% of X/ Rim size.
