So i bought my 74 hilux not running that well, had compression issues.
anyway, I re shaved the head and replaced the gasket, but the other thing i noticed is that there's a lot of gunk and old oil residue all the front side of the motor ( timing chain side)

I took off everything and cleaned it up.:waytogo:
Then i noticed the O-ring and gasket on the fuel pump were old and messed up.

Any Ideas where I can find some better ones for replacement?
or do i just have to get other fuel pump? :doah:
    thanks!

Put everything back together, no good, still bad compression. may be looking at different motor options now.
    any advice?

    18RC Engine rebuilt/never fired

i have a completely rebuilt 18RC engine from a 1972 truck...never fired...head reworked, rings, bearings, freeze plugs, cam bearings, upper and lower timing chains with gears and tensioners, oil pump, fuel pump, water pump, everything except the carb. ...truck was crushed into rubble while sitting on the street when i had just finished the motor.......it is 25 miles west of houston on I-10....contact me and it is yours to come and pick up....it is still sitting on the engine stand....that goes with it....no truck...no use for it...

    IM BACK!

Okay so i have the 18rc in my truck now.
of course a few things are different going from a 74 motor to a 72.
but i think im having trouble with the distributor. If any has any advice it just seems i dont have anywhere to plug certian things in anymore. It almost turns over but not quite there.

Be more specific. What can't you plug in? Vacuum lines? Between 72 and 74 Toyota added a few things but the guts are the same. The carb changed and they added some pollution controls, especially to the Cali models. What are you stuck on specifically?
