I got a 92 2wd and im trying to see what is the best set up to drop it. Iv herd of the drop spindles and drop blocks and leafs but iv also herd bad comments bout them. Just trying to get a bit more info.
Depends on if you plan on bagging it or just simple static drop ... My son has a '80's model bagged laying frame and my '85 is 3" static ... What's your preference ???
When I started my project, I drove it static dropped for two years. Planning on bags from the being, I went Beltech dropped spindles, 2'' dropped rear leafs with 2'' angled blocks, stock shocks. It drove & rode well, the rear would hit on large bumbs ,so installed the notch well before ready to go to bags. In going the route I went, the axle was where it needed to be for link bars,so welding supports from it to the frame kept it correct before removing all. Then on to the front where I used Cando a-arms & relocated the shock mount. The trans mount was changed when I did the rear bags. Rides very well & handles great! Adjustable suspension is great as you can lift the truck when needed!!
Im thinking about just a static drop and eventually bagging it. Im thinking about getting 3" spindles and i guess the same for blocks and leafs. Im planning on running 15x7 +35 and later on going 16x8 0 But i saw a white pickup running them centerline 15x10 and that caught my attention lol. So might go that way too, but i have no idea what im going to have to do to make the 15x10 fit lol.
I've never seen 3" drop spindles for Toyota's, only 2". I'm running Belltech 2" spindles, 3" blocks, and Toxic drop shocks at all 4 corners and haven't had a single issue in 3 years. And I use my truck in the winter also. What's nice, though. If you get drop spindles for a static drop for now and decide to bag the truck later on, those spindles will come in handy. Oh yeah, I run 18x8's with 235/40's in the summer and factory 14x6's with 195/75 studded snow tires in the winter. The only time it rubs is with the wider tires and only when I hit a dip too hard.
