1988 Reg cab w power steering. Does the slack adjustment nut on top of the steering box work on PWR Steering models to decrease slack or is it just for manual steering. The locknut is very very tight. I know this much

You should see the free play on my steering wheel, it's about a foot of wheel travel from one side to the other, my gear box is wore out.!

If you look on the top of the steering box under the hood at the end of the shaft. On the top of the steering box(gear not shaped as a box) there is a nut with a screw(flat head screwdriver) coming through the center of it. Loosen the nut( it is a locking nut for the screw) and then turn the screw clockwise slightly then go and rock your wheel back and forth slightly as this should decrease the amount of slack in the steering. Snug it back down and go for a drive and readjust if needed. make small adjustments so you don't have to loosen it back as I did !!! The 24 year old lock nut was very tight but it should come loose. Good Luck

Well it's the inner tie rods...Center link moves an inch or so before the tie rods even begin to move..

Not to hard to fix.Get you a picklefork or tie rod separator. It will need to be aligned when through.
