just monoleafed and i was wondering what i could do to stiffen up the rear without lifting it? my frame keeps smacing my axel and its getting pretty annoying. also ihad a noise coming from my transmission and was told it was a dust cover on the output side. now it sounds horrible. anyone know how to fix or remove it?

Your probly gonna want to go with a baby notch in the frame, theres no way around that. As far as stiffen the rear? Probly different springs, add some helper airbags, stiffer shocks.....As far as the tranny problem...there is sometimes a dust cover as you mentioned that looks like a cup coming off the output of your tranny and helps block stuff from getting in your u-joints. Not sure how to remove it though, but it might be your noise.

i plan on doing a pretty decent notch later cuz im gonna bag it eventually but i dont have much money right now so im looking for a cheaper solution. i know i need stiffer shocks but im looking for something inexpensive which is why i was thinking air shocks. i dont want the back to raise up though. and i plan on getting drop leafs if i dont bag it in the near future. are drop shocks pretty stiff?

you can use adjustable valved shocks..... you'll need to do some research on who will make some in the size you need. if you use air shocks, the air you place in em will lift the truck by however much pressure you put in em, its kinda the point of the air shocks to support more weight........ and since mono-leaf setup puts more weight to be supported by one leaf instead of the stock 3 leafs, the air shocks will do most of the supporting of the back end of the truck.

if you want a low low ride without sacrificing the spring rate (stiffness), use large 4 or 5 inch lowering blocks on the stock leafs....

good advice, but as somebody thats been there and done that, I would seriously put the overload springs back on before you break a spring, it WILL happen

Double shock the rear end to add more dampening force back there. You can likely run a longer bolt with a sleeve to run the outter shock.

mono leaf= scary to me.... With all the options out there you can safely static a truck without breaking the bank... Mono is unsafe man and you could hurt someone if that 1 leaf breaks going down the highway....

You could have just stuck with all your leaf springs and just de-arched them. All you would need is a torch.

Negative. Springs are heat treated and thats one of the worst thing you could do.

If your truck is a daily, running mono leaf is scetchy. Your asking for problems. I'd say it's alright for a weekend cruise nothing aggressive driving wise.

In Hawaii I do see the occasional mono leafed truck and good lord they ride like a pos. I got a friend with a 88single cab mono leaf/5" block & massive notch, the thing rides pretty smooth but it's super soft & not in a good way.

I never did understand why people ever did pull leafs, they're suppose to be there for a reason. Just go with a bigger block.

I was wondering...if instead of monoleafing....maybe you could grab a leave out of a toyota 4wd leaf pack, and throw it in place of your 2wd middle leaf that everyone pulls? I believe the 4wd leafs have a tiny bit less arch to them so essentially you might gain a 1-2 inch drop but still have a safe leaf pack? I would like to de-arch mine until I can buy some belltech drop leaves and I dont want to pull my middle leaf so Ill try out my idea....whats everyone else think of that?
