well I know I feel guilty for ditching the forums for so long, so I just wanted to throw up some pictures of things ive been up to lately ( well over the last 6 months...) warning, there will be lots of pictures lol. well first off, my grandparents house sold ( they died a little over a year ago.) so me and my sister both got small cuts from that $2000 each. I have been living quite well off of it, by buying things on craigslist and flipping them. I did get new brakes all around the titan that was nearly 400 but I needed them badly. and I also scored a sweet deal on some used SAW coil overs for 400. My truck rides sweet now, Just need another alignment and rotate my tires. So my mom has kept me busy since im not working still. Ive been doing lots and lots of upgrades to our house. First I put up a new white pvc fence all the way around, with a 14 foot gate to get my toys in and out of the back yard. Then we got an above ground pool, but we put it underground. only half way. we didnt want it too low for all the dogs to keep jumping/falling in... so they wanted 500 bucks to dig the hole, and put all the dirt in one pile, so I dug it myself, rented a backhoe and got to worken. then I rented a bobcat to move the dirt back around the pool after it was up. I also cut my concrete patio myself too.. that was a lot of work ! those gas powered saws are awesome, but moving the 3 tons of concrete by hand to the truck out front was rediculous ! I am proud of myself, I dug a 18 by 30 foot hole 2 feet deep, and the pool guys told me the entire hole was level, the worst spot was 1 1/4 inch off... thats awesome, they said they usually aim for 2 to 3 inches off but no more Next I had 1500 square feet of brick pavers delivered... had quotes from $4 to $10 a square foot installed. I paid $1 dollar per square foot including tax and delivery, and said heck Ill do it myself. Im still not done, because you can probably imagine 3000 plus bricks gets very old very fast for one person.. Im going to finish when the weather cools down some more. But I made my titan the driveway it deserves, and did a pool deck. Its not perfect, theres some places that need to be pulled up to re-level. but for the most part, I think it came out nice. I had never seen a prettier brick that I was so proud of to say " yeah I put that there " lol.. but it didnt take me long to start regretting my commitments lol... this first section took me 3 days, about 4 hours a day, but it was a learning experience. the rest went by so fast, but it still wasnt easy and boy do I love my new driveway, now when its raining I dont get my toes all muddy going to the front door, and my truck stays kind of clean lol. just need to cut that tree down because is pisses sap all over my truck !
and for a little treat for myself, I bought myself the boat of my dreams... well not really.. I got lucky and I ended up trading 600 bucks worth of junk for it, and couldnt be happier..its an older hull with a newer fuel injected evinrude, on an aluminum jack plate, t top, and leaning post.. the guy who traded me showed me nearly 10 grand in receipts for the stuff he has in the boat. he built it for himself, and never used it once !! Also we sent my little brother to Georgia for the summer, and we re-did his room.. hes a military nut. And he has asp-burgers so I guess military and history is his fixation... got him a fat head, some real grenades, and some other cool stuff. He had the worst room in the house till now. thats a 6 foot sticker, and boy is it SWEET ! but sucked putting it up lol...
also, somewhere in between this mess. I found time to go lobster diving in the fl keys with my girlfriends family. we had a blast. Went spear fishing, lobster diving, flew on a sea plane to the dry tortugas. And took pictures with some trans gender dunno what to call em. but they had drag shows every night, and they lined up all night long. it was so funny we had to take pics with them... and check out the sliding doors to my room in the condo we stayed at lol.. we got the baby makin room with 2 single beds lolol.. my girlfriend has the rest of the pics, but it was a blast. Its not very fun if you dont have a boat to go out on though.
So, sorry if you dont care about this crap, but I just have to show off to someone all the hard work ive been up to. hard work that goes unnoticed sucks. Plus I have to remind myself that I was productive this year considering I stopped working last thanksgiving. Ive felt like Ive been going nowhere fast because of that and not going to school. But I do have some good news, one of the reasons I havent went job hunting at mcdonalds, is Ive been trying to get hired as a 911 operator. I just got an email for a second orientation nov the 7th. so hopefully I can get it ! That will definitely set the path for my life right now.
you were gone? ............ j/k..... dude youve been busy as hell huh.... well good to see you are doin well man. cant say i approve of your south florida company though.......
Solid projects bro! Hmmmm... Pool, patio, fishing boat? Sounds like the perfect reason to BBQ!! Gonna have to make a fishing trip down there bro, would like to catch my first Tarpon and Goliath grouper!!
I still haven't landed a tarpon but I know where they are. I did hand feed them in key west though. yeah man, you should come down here sometime if it works out. you could always make it a family trip or something, bush gardens, disney, beaches.. tons to do here. heres a few pics of the tarpon I would feed the lobster guts too. if you look close in the water and look at the lobster heads, compare the full size lobster to the fish. There was also a huge golliath grouper that would eat the lobster guts also but he was not there when I had my camera out. and then theres me with jack sparrow lol.
I know how it is with work bro, it blows. Graduated college December of last year and only landed 2 interviews so far. Going back for a masters seems like the smartest thing to do at the moment.
Nice to see your staying busy. Nice job on the fence and brick work and pool. So I forgot.... do you still have the blue toy
Cool projects you've been busy with! glad to know you've been alive! Anything under the bricks for the driveway?
thanks guys. glad to be back. I cant wait to start working on my yota when the weather cools down some more. and nam, the bricks do have a base, its crushed up concrete 1'' diameter and smaller, and its been compacted. I did not have anyone to help me level it, so i did the best I could without wasting a ton of time.. after all its just a parking pad so I dont care. plus I had no idea how to get the slope right lol but it came out nice, just 2 spots ( or humps really) that need to be pulled up and take some of the gravel out to level it.
