is there anything bad about running wheel spacers that big?

Spacers - As long you torque them down and check on them, you're good to go. I hear horror stories but that's because people don't install them correctly. Mine's the spacer adapter that bolts to the hub (it has its own studs) and it's 1.25".

It supposedly adds more wear to the wheel bearings, I can't confirm this. I just know the spacers and my wheels have brought it closer to a 0 offset rather than a higher offset. More wear? I'm very unsure. The wheels are alloys and the spacer bringing it out shouldn't affect it. You see cars out there driving with heavy chrome wheels or trucks with 35" tires and 3" spacers. Don't those have more weight and load on the car?


Slip on spacers can only go up to a certain thickness before you run out of stud length. *sketchy*
my bolt on spacers (huge...) have their own studs, so i can use all of it and torque it.

I drive my truck every day, I drive my truck hard, so I drive my truck hard everyday, and it's not straight lines. It's probably not a good thing, but i torque my stuff down and am very confident of my self.

 

when you push your wheels out further, it does put a strain on your steering components because of the added leverage. Think about it, you can do pushups easily with your arms straight under you, but give yourself a wider stance and it gets harder. I bent hubs and blown bearings out on my titan due to this, went from stock to 8 inch lift, and pushed with wheels about 4.5 inches out. (also being on heavy 22s with 37 inch tire weighing in around 140 pounds each does not help). now im not running a spacer, I got rims with the right offset. but I wouldnt use a spacer on a heavy setup, on a light truck or car, with light wheels I dont see a problem. Im sure if I was running a spacer on my setup now I would snap the studs clear off of it.

 

I've got a friend with 1 inch spacers on an f250 with 24's and 40's and he's never had an issue out of them. Yes, there is some technical sides to spacers but mostly it's luck of the draw lol

my truck is relatively light and 1.25" adapters aren't too big, so the strain isn't that bad.
I just got new tires mounted in the rear and i held the wheel before the tire was placed, it's pretty light. It's also 7.5" wide compared to my 14x6" steelies, which the outside sits in the same position as the 16's do, with the spacers on.

so the 16x7.5's extra 1.5" goes towards the inside of the wheel well.

I removed my wheels and spacers and mounted my friend's bullitts on the truck.

18"x9" Offset is unknown 265/35/18
Only issue is wheel rubbing on strut bars up front when i turn it a lot.

Those wheels look Siick! Beautiful truck! Im getting ahold of some 17" Cobra look-a-likes today hope they fit and look as good as those do!

 

!8's look good on there man. Takes away from the low a little but sick non the less. You'll have to see dave's truck in person one day it's so bad ass.

Ashton, I may consider grabbing 18's for the truck after basic. Still thinking about what kind to run.

The tires from those bullitts, 265/35/18's, I'll be getting them from my friend later. Those wheels went from 04GT, to 94Xcab, to 99GT lol.
I'll be in possession of 18" tires for myself already and they grip GREAT. perfect for me, already.

Here's a youtube video of my truck doing 115mph corrected.
I did a top speed run before, but i only got to 105mph, even with an almost empty gas tank.
I aired up all tires and got a new intake filter (you've seen the picture in the Today on my truck thread). I think that's what held my truck back, lol.
Anyway, I finished the video off doing 5000RPM's in 4th, that equaled 115mph approximately.

Talk about a small change that totally affects the overall look of the truck! Wow it looks that much more better! You should see if someone can photoshop it to change the color of the rims to the gold color on that's on your hood!
