I've got a 93 x-cab, I wanna put 17x7's all the way around but unsure of what tire size to run. I have the Belltech stage 1 lowering kit on it (2" front and 3" rear) I want to get the most amount of sidewall without any rubbing issues. Any ideas? Thanks!
Well I have 225/50/17 all around. Wheels are 17X7 +40 offset. 2" with drop arms for front and 3' blocks on rear. 225/50/17 is about 1/2 inch bigger in diameter than factory.. I recomend 215's cause you will rub the inside on the front when you hit big bump or go up curb at certain speed. Just have to slow down a little. You can probly do +35 with 215/50/17, but I'm not a tire/wheel expert. Best to check it out at tire/wheel shop.
Well whats on there right now?? If you got stocks and they dont rub then use this to see what size tire would be needed on the 17's. I have 205/40/17's but my truck lays on the ground I had to run stocks for a while and it only rubbed when I laid out so it was equivalent to 205/50/17's as my stock tires were 195/65/15. Offset's im not sure of but Id think with a 7w rim 205's would be optimal and maybe 50/55 series tires. But yah like Thao said best bet would be ask a tire shop (NOT LES SCHWAB THOSE GUYS ARE IDIOTS) actually maybe not a tire shop but a custom rim shop since most bigger tire shops look up on the computer and if it says it wont fit thats what they tell you but most the time it FITS.
I'm just running stockers right now, I get what you're saying about the overall diameter though. Sounds like 215/50 is the way to go. Most of the wheels I having been looking at say high or low offset.. anyone know what that means or what I should run?
Nevermind, got the offset thing figured out. Is it possible to run 17x8's all the way around? If so what would you run for a tire like a 255?
NO 17x8 would allow you to run 215 or 225 max my Z rims are 18x9.5 and they had 255's THere is NO way a 255 would fit on our trucks upfront PERIOD or out back unless it was narrowed or tubbed or you had 2 inches of tire sticking out from the wheel well.
That's what I thought but I didn't think you could stretch a 215 or 225 on an 8. As you can tell I know nothing about wheels/tires haha. So 17x8 all the way around with a 215 or 225 won't rub?
