I have a 1991 toyota pickup Reg cab 4x4. Now i pot pulled over in the state of P.A saying my truck has to have a back bumper.. Did Toyota sell this truck with out a back bumper ? in any case do i have to have a bumper or not ? i just wanna win one over on the cops

it HAS to have a black bumper? tell that guy it's ****ing factory.
Rear bumper right? well Toyota trucks did have some with chromes in the rear.

My 91 does not have a rear bumper. They came from Toyota FACTORY like this and the actuall step bumper was an option. Google or Yahoo 91 Toyota Truck Specs and it will pull up factory options and pics of the fact a bumper was optional from the factory. When things are optional (despite state laws) they cant force you to put one on. I had this problem with my 350Z and the front plate NO Z came with front plate mounts therefore you have to buy a custom bracket which was not an option from nissan so I didnt have to run a front plate even though state law said I had to. But yah it was an OPTION from Toyota to have a rear bumper.

 

I forgot...However since its a 4x4 you probably need one and mud flaps depending on your laws and how big your tires are or if its lifted that all makes things a bit different.

My 91 has whats left of a chrome rear step bumper but it's the Dlx extra cab.I think they also had a black tube job back then.I know nothing either way as regards the laws but I think it's a good idea to have one.A little protection is better than none.

 

My 91 did not come from factory with a rear bumper

 

My 92 4x4 did not come with a bumper.

Rear bumpers look like a$$, esp on a 2wd.

 

It was a option on stripped down models, when mine was new it didnt have one.
