I was locking my torsions down today and when I tried to tighten up the passenger side one it flew off! Basically the nut slid right off the bolt and stripped the whole thing flat! :brickknock: So now the truck is sitting on the passenger bump stop. Anyone have an extra? I might be able to find one locally but it's always a crapshoot.... if anyone in the Portland area or the South Bay area (I'll be down there on sat / sun) let me know!!! Need to get this driving again!!!

Thats kind of odd if I were you I would find the root cause of it. Was it rust? And if it was rust my thinking is I will check the drivers side also.

I think the dealer would probably want way too much for them. Been looking online for new ones and I can't find any.
I know what the cause is, most of the bottom of the truck was covered with oil and rust. It was a bitch to get that bolt threaded. I didn't think it would give out, in fact I've never seen a nut slip right off a bolt before, especially threaded half way up the bolt!!!
If anyone knows a place to buy a pair online, let me know, I'd feel much better having new ones. I looked at Rock Auto and LC Eng and the only ones I found were later model 4x4 ones.

solved... $9 at the dealer each. Ordered 2 bolts and the 4 nuts to go with 'em. $25. Should have 'em tomorrow.
Figured I'd replace both while I'm at it. Not gonna take any chances.

yea mine were fine, looked em over, cleaned 'em up and no problems. Really it looks like this bolt had had it, had a few things like that on this truck since I've had it and I wouldn't be surprised if I find more before I'm done.
Funny (and lucky) thing is, I was supposed to drive the truck to the bay area tomorrow after work... if this thing had let go on the Oregon Coast somewhere... ooooooo that would have sucked. I could have rolled along on the bumpstop for a while, but really really slow. :duh:

funny thing is, I was just going thru little things on the truck I needed to finish up, like locking down the front ride height, and was just lifting the front up a touch to even it out left / right. Adjusted the drivers side no problem, barely touched the passenger side and it let go! Wondered why I'd lost 1/2" on that side at the fender! :jawdrop:

I'll finish what I started on monday. Both will be replaced and locked down even. Not much left after that. :waytogo:

No, I was only doing about 1/2 turn. If I was going to do any more than that I would have lifted it. All I was really going to do was tighten that up slightly, lock the second bolts down, and done. Didn't quite get that far... LOL!!!!
