i'm considering .. pretty much set on removing the drip rails from my Trekker .. (79-83 model 4x4 4runner prototype) i'm wondering If you guys have any pics I can see of this mod ?
water /rain is NOT an issue .. I live in Penticton !!! .. I'm lovin the "cool " factor so thats why I want to do it .. and I'm going to .. just was hoping someone else has done it before me ? .
my friend did it, he cut it all off at once and it opened up big time. so i recommend cutting off several little sections and tack welding them. then once its all tacked finish cutting it. it should go pretty easy if you do it that way.
thanks ... yes the rail is actually laid down under the roof panel .. so , as you say , I will have to spot weld as I go . there is also an in-dent at the rear top of the B-pillar i'm going to fill .. I'm going to do it , I was just hoping to see some pics first .. here's where i'm at . new inner rockers ..
not much to add .. but I was able to do a little work today .. welded up the rear roof holes , and pached up some of the rust .. going to start to cut off the drip rails next .
so I was able to work a bit on the trekker last night .. and started cutting the rail off .. had to do this in sections , and tack it , so that the roof wouldnt "pop" off and with it fully removed and just about finished 1 side .
are you keeping the trekker 4WD or going low? either way, nice to see a trekker getting customized.. i just got a toyota trailblazer and i wish it had the lower foot room for the back seats like the trekkers, instead of a reclined seat and leg room.
doing a frame up with a S/C 3.4L ... and keepin' it 4WD with a little lift .. you can see the build at http://www.toyotatrekker.com .. fourms just thought I would post the driprail removal here , as it dosnt matter whether its a 2 or 4WD for those .
sweet, just curious because i have seen a few 4runners converted to 2wd. and slammed. either way, kick ass.
