Ok , so i got the motor all hooked up, the exhaust in place, but she still revs up to about 2500 rpm, then stalls down to nearly nothing before shooting back up and down again, then back up, over and over again. I pinched off all the vac lines i can find, grounded everything. Kind of at a loss. Its the 22R (carb). I did find that the dist. caps main line from the solenoid was corroded so i cleaned the contacts on it to see if it improved a lil, no such luck though. Also, i pulled the plugs and hit them with a wire brush, again just to test. I will be replacing the cap, wires and plugs soon, but i just dropped 800 on insurance and reg. and plates so im broke for a few days. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they did to remedy it. She fires right up no problem, right up to 3k rpm for a second or two, drops, and repeats. Thanks ahead of time fellas:brickknock:

Oh could it have something to do with the fact that i tore out the smog crap and the rear O2 sensor is still plugged in but not reading any exhaust cuz its just hanging there?

Sounds like its a fuel feed issue. Check the filter and pump.

I just watched your vid and you have a massive vacuum leak... Try connecting the brake booster hose to it's pipe on the intake manifold. I see it tucked behind the windshield wiper motor.

Hopefully that will solve it. Good luck! :waytogo:

ok new dist. cap is in and no difference at all, BYE, as far as the brake booster hose, it runs from the booster along the firewall to another metal tube, so thats fine... i did however find a loos hose coming off of what i believe may be a fuel filter but, i know that the fuel filter is under by the gas tank. unless thats just a pre-filter and the big canister in the engine bay is the main one. it has 2 fuel hoses coming out of the top, but then theres one more and im not sure where it goes, im assuming the carb somewhere but i have 2 tubes on the carb that need something going to it, i cant find my truck manual at the moment

BYE, you dead eye havin SOB, you were correct on that brake booster hose, I def just tucked it back there while i had the motor out. Thanks again!!! there were a couple other hoses that i needed to get hooked up right though, 2 of em went to the air filter housing. there were a couple of valves or whatever they are inside that needed the right hoses attached. I got her idling at around 1100 rpm now!!! and the rough/shaking engine prob is gone too!!! Thanks everyone, again. I cant tell you how many times one of you guys have gotten me out of a pinch. I love this site, and all you Yota heads.
