Sup guys. My name is Blas. Im from NJ. I figured I'd start my own build thread, cuz I recently started tearing down my babygirl. First off, I wanna thank all the fellas who have helped me out thus far and to everyone else for posting, and putting up all the pics. I love this site, and plan on being around for a good long while. Ive got a bunch of pics from the last few weeks, so the first few will be sorta random. But yea, thanks again to everyone, and im lookin forward to keepin this build going, as well as watching all of yall continue on yours. YOTA 4 Life!!!
thanks guys. i used 800 then 1500 grit sand paper, followed by some mothers alum. polish. it was a pita tho cuz those lil studs around the inner part make for some really sore fingers. im gonna be tryin something diff on the rest, only have that one done yet lol ps... thats my old man in the pic raising the motor and sweeping out the bed.
sweet i started to polish my wheels with a 400 grit sand paper but that SOB kept hurting my thumb and finger lol but like they say no pain no game lol
indeed brother, unfortunately the sanding part is pretty much what it is, but for the polish im gonna get one of those foam jobs that u can put on a drill. what size pipe are you running from the header mike? I have a set of hedman hedders and was gonna go with 2.25" to a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler, but im wondering if i should go 2.5". I am gonna order a weber 38 in a couple weeks too.
hmmm lets see here well I dont have my header yet just the fact im saving up for a tri y header it will make my hybrid breath easier...i wouldnt go any bigger than a 2.5 setup just the fact its a 4 banger and it will be a waste of money lol i have a 2.5 setup with no cat and a flowmaster 40 series muffler and i hade a BIG performance gain ummm the weber 38 might not be a good choice if you havent done any big upgrades on the 22r it will just make it run rough
looking good. what size are the wheels and tires? ive been trying to decide on a sidewall size and i dont wanna go to big or to small. but your setup looks good
Rims/Tires Sorry Andy, took me forever to get back into the build. Had so much crap going on and i had parts out getting work done. Took the guy 3 months to get em back to me... FML... But ill pm you with the sizes tonight or tmrw.
plainfield ... crazy. my uncle lives out that way somewhere. he used to live in plainfield way back when. damn i kinda miss jersey.
the weber 38 is only good for high end torque bottom end is has nothing whatsoever its slow as hell well i did have it on an 18r but it only gives it high end torque
in w hedder n no smog ish... i didnt know what else to do with that tube coming out of the carb sooo... i assumed it was for smog ish, hose n a bolt
DUUUUUUDES!!! A quick shot of Starter Fluid and she RAWRED to life. The beast is, for all intents and purposes... ALIVE!!! She was screaming with open headers and its kind of late so i didnt run it for more than 15 seconds. But she shot up to about 2500 rpm. Which has me a lil worried. Wasnt sure if it was the throttle linkage being a bit stubborn (i hit it with some WD-40 just in case) or a vac leak. I will be investigating tmrw. Oil change, some new trans gear oil, bolt down the bed, hook up lights, and we, sirs, have a date with the insurance agent on monday!!!
I started her up again today to see fill up the rad and check on that 2500rpm idle, but she started pissing engine oil out. I think it was from a couple of threaded holes on the side of the block that i forget to put bolts in, at least im hoping thats what it is. I put the bolts in but cant check till tmrw cuz i lost a couple quarts in the ordeal. Also, i got the new rear tranny mount in and the shaft back up. if the oil leak is resolved, ill be getting the exhaust pipes squared up and the super 44 in, last thing is bed bolts and lights, Insurance on Monday!!!
LOL @ the wobble video. I was like dam that engine shakes weird haha. Keep up the good work man. I want to get started on my 82 already.
