Will the transmisisons fit the same? I will be purchasing a transmission for my 7MGE and need to know if there is even a difference. I just got the motor so I don't know much about it. :verdict_in:

    R154 Bolt up To 7MGE ??

It will fit. Read the link. Search on Google. Obviously you are doing a fully custom setup so saying that you will need to do some figuring out is not necessary.

the difference between the GTE and GE is probably the rods, pins, and head (and turbo necessities).
The bolt pattern for the bellhousings should be the same.

    7MGE has a W58 5 speed.

    7MGTE has a R154.

Both have the same block bellhousing pattern, but are two way different transmissions.

Im not sure on the mounts and length and stuff, but they certainly have different shifters.

In case you missed this the first time. This word is important. That engine, with frame modification, will fit. But it isn't a bolt in swap. You will need an entire wiring harness, ECU, welding, engine mounts are diff, transmission cross member is diff, drive shaft spline for a R154. That being said it can be done. The fact that your fumbling on a tranny fitting, tells me your not seeing the big picture. By the way a W58 will work fine behind the 7M(turbo or not). If you plan on creating more than 350 rwhp, then worry about getting a R154.
Theres a guy on here who I think his screen name is supratruck (someone correct me if I'm wrong), find his profile and see if he has a build thread. He has done a complete 7MGTE swap.

For now my main focus IS tranny because I'm doing all the frame work. Trust me the big picture is being seen and I know what needs all to be done. The motor was already in the truck before, it needs to have new bearings, gaskets, and head bolts. Then I will balance it and put it right back in. For now I need the tranny so I can work on the transmission crossmember, motor mounts, and other things. Everything else will come later when I'm actually ready for it to be running. I will be building motor mounts out of tubing and bushings, same with the tranny crossmember. So for now, tranny first, other **** later lol

So does that mean the trans from the 3VZE will work too?

Not exactly.... Only a 7m series trans will work with a 7m... unless you swap bellhousings and torque converters. (and possibly pumps and valve bodies) And there are differences between a 7mge and gte trans too. The gte has a couple more clutches, so it holds power better. Plus you have to run GE electronics with a GE and GTE with GTE. Anything else you want to know? I run one in my supra for racing and have built them up before.

I just found one in the slavage yard out of a supra and it is connected to a GTE. If I get this, the electronics such as wiring, and the transmission control box, can I have it work with my GE? Or should I just keep an eye out for GE specific? Or should I spend the money to yank the GTE out and use that instead? Either way I'm looking at having to rebuild one or the other. I already have a GE though.

I would say since you already have it then keep it. It is still quite a bit more power for a Toyota pickup. And just match up the right parts. I hate automatics with a passion so I'm done here.

You still really didn't answer my question. Can I get away with getting that transmission and using the computer from that and be fine? Or is there more that needs to be changed out?

Because I like drifting and you can't drift an automatic. Computer for transmission? I have no clue. I just recently got into owning a Supra. You might try supraforums.com to get these kind of questions answered. Or supramania.com
