2wd to 4wd transmission?

    the 4x4 tranny is 89-95 my truck is an 85

    No all 4wd toyota trannys are married units. Which means the t case and trans are all one unit and you can't unbolt them.

    Transfer case

    So you want to convert your truck to 4x4 or just use the trans on your 2x4. you have to remember there is a transfer case involved.

    Yeah like savage said transfer case and trans are one unit.

    As mentioned they are a married unit, but do seperate apart, to use a 4x4 tranny in a 2wd application the rear transfer case adapter on the 4x4 trans needs to come off, followed by changing out the main shaft in the trans to a 2wd main shaft, then use the 2wd rear tail housing. In short, basically a complete dissasembly of the trans to swap ,out the main shaft.
