ok so i have the toyota to gm alternator bracket and basically from what ive read is that the alternator does not start charging until about 12-1500rpms with a 1 wire setup. But ive read that with a 3 wire setup it starts charging as soon as the engine turns on. is this true? and if so how do i do the 3 wire setup? im kinda regretting buying it and just going with my orginal plan of fitting a 90 supra alternator cuz i dont have to worry about wires, all i gotta do is fab up a bracket.
you can find the wiring and harness online, I did a 3 wire cs130 in my pickup, but the underdrive pulley on the crank was turning it too slow at idle.. I actually want to do a 1 wire now so I can clean up the wiring under the hood I have a basically new 140 amp powermaster cs 130 powdercoated black alternator if u are interested in some kind of trade..
Trap. so even with the gm alternator it wasnt charging cuz of the pulley? id be down to trade somethin if i know it will charge at idle. but doesnt it charge better at idle with a 3 wire setup than a 1 wire?
I was running a lc engineering pulley kit that under drives all the accessories. I also have a fuel injection piggy back computer that really doesn't like to go under 12 volts, it especially doesnt play well with the stereo or electric fan. the 3 wire doesn't necessarily charge any better at idle, it just gets a hardwired ignition trigger from the car to turn on vs the one wire that just needs to spin up to a certain rpm before it turns on
Hey, trap, you still have that cs130? Does it have a factory size pulley on it? If so, how much would you want for it? And you have a part number for that pigtail? Sorry, posting from my phone at work...
