Do I have to remove the bed to remove the mounting arms for the rear bumper?

I thought if I removed the two bolts that hold each arm to the frame I'd be able to slide the whole assembly. NOPE. :)

After two hours of WD-40 and some muscle I finally got all (4) bolts off only to find that as I try and slide them out there isn't enough clearance!

I know I can remove the bumper itself with the one bolt on each side holding it to the two "arms", but then I would still have these two rusty things sticking out.

    Help. :)

Well, when i took mine off, my bed was already off, but i do think you will have to,
I pulled my bed to inspect and paint the frame.you should consider it, its not that hard.

It slides out and down, you might have to jack up the truck a little to clear the ground... My bumper weighed a ton when I took it off so becareful when it drops off the chassis... Watch your toes!! ;)

Removing the bed is definitely on the TO DO list. Made arrangements with a local blaster. Plan to rent a flat bed from Home Depot and deliver it down to hiim, but wanted to do it after winter. Sometime in Feb.

For now I wanted to try and remove the bumper.

I have no problem with ground clearance, it's clearing the rollpan that is a problem. The brackets or arms that hold the bumper will only slide out so far before they hit the rollpan.

I think removing the bumper WITH the brackets will have to wait till I remove the bed.

Unless I saw the arms off. Hmmmmm. :)
