So, I am finally getting around to posting this build. I have been working on this for about 2-3 months off and on depending on time contraints. It is 83 Long Bed Deluxe. I also have an 83 sr5 parts trucks. Basically, I am swapping all possible things from sr5 to the longbed. Sr5 frame is toast due to rust and I prefer the longbed anyways. Work so far.. swapped engine and 5spd from sr5 22r replaced intake manifold weber 32/36 desmogged/vacuum lines removed 3 in blocks in rear and cranked torsion up front headlight and front swap from 81 4wd - love the round look mesh rims bbs they say mazda but i dont think they were mazda originally finished last night - bench seat to buckets swap from sr5 swapped doors from sr5 removed vinyl, cleaned out cab and installed new carpet plans install center console alpine stereo speakers sr5 dash and cluster swap - hopefully swap front left fender panel swap hood deal with bed issues, rust and holes eventually paint it i am really happy with progress so far, nevers happen as fast as i want i also will have many parts for people for are interested, currently have engine 22r (no compression in 3rd cylinder), 5 spd tranny, and other random parts. majority of parts from engine bay, including power steering and ac parts
more pics the pic is the interior i am currently swapping over, so far have moved over the seats and installed new carpet, it looks HEAPS better!
Ha, yea i am working on those pics. Still trying to find time to get the console in...dont hold your breath too long
NOT a good sign So, on my way back from work tonight. Truck makes what sounds like a faint knocking noise (i think). I smell a faint burning smell. As I am still trying to figure out if I smell something the engine stalls. I pull over, then it starts smoking in the realm of 3rd and 4th cylinder. i am fearing the worst! Anyone have any ideas...i have some knowledge, but I know there are many on here with more... my thoughts are...drain and see what comes out, hopefully not water and oil any advice here would be welcome!! thanks in advance
