    Yup you know what chocolate milk in the dipstick means. I'm doing a head gasket on an 88 pickup, it belongs to a Guy at work so he is paying me to do it

    Did this engine have a bad timing chain rattle by chance??

    No It still ran fine just overheated obviously after running it a few minutes

    do the timing chain while you're in there as it is not too expensive and takes care of another potential problem as well. Doesn't take too much longer if you have the head off.

    Drain the oil before it rusts the mains/rods and your SOL. :waytogo:

    Yea I'll probly get a brand new head timing chain and rocker arms. possibly do the rings. Not sure what the owner's priorities are but it already had a new water pump, radiator thermostat etc

    Here's where it was leaking threw the gasket, but the head was in good shape no pitts in the water passages
