    What's up guys! I'm J.T.,
I'm new to the site, had my yota for about 6 months, it's an 83 pickup.
I bought it from a guy who said he and a buddy lowered it themselves, about 3 inches. Awesome!!
But, just lastnight I hit a semi-hidden speedbump and bottomed out pretty hardcore. I had to park immediately to go in to work, but on my drive home, I noticed that I was feelin every single little bump on the road... alot.
I drove home slowly and looked under the truck and it looks like something is broken.. I don't know what it is but I took a picture of it which I will post on here soon, but does anyone have any idea what this might be just from the description.
the car runs fine in every other way.. it just feels like there's no shock absorption.
    I would love some feedback!!!
    Word!!

There are some pics attached to this.. I still have no I dea what it is, but it definitely makes for a bumpier ride, and it feels like there is less control over the steerin too!!
I truly appreciate the feed back!! I'm at a loss not really being mechanically inclined. I do want to learn more though, that's why I bought a car with an older engine, so i could try to understand the basics at least as problems arise!
The 1st pic is where on the truck the problem is, just under the seats.
The 2nd pic is the thing that is hanging down about an inch from the ground, it's firmly attached to something else as the pic shows, so it's not just dangling there, but every pothole or rise in concrete causes a severe scrape. (I think that's why the part looks bent back)
The 3rd pic is a sort of close up of the broken part.

I cant say how much more was damaged but from the looks of it youre goingto need to replace the passenger side key. If the driver side is in the same shape then both torsion keys will need replacing

Hey! I had the same problem...

I let somebody drive my truck and they drove it off a curb! It bent the torsion spring anchor on one side (it has a fork shape to it). Anyways it bent it and the T bolt fell out later down the road. Leaving us stranded.

You can bend it straight and re-mount the t bolt and be on your way.

Sucks cuz it had to be towed. your lucky

Just another reason why lowed rides need a adjustable suspension.
Go to air ride & this won't happen!

i was considering lowering the front via torsion bars, but I think I'll keep it stock for now at least until I can get my hands on some drop spindles.

Sorry brother, let's get her fixed< half the fun of owning a classic!

Sounds like you should be able to fix it up. Sweet looking little truck. Looks like if you bent it all back and reattached it you should be good to go. Reindexing the splines at the control arm end will help tuck the torsion key back up inside a bit. I usually set them to where they are flush with the base of the crossmember they are inside of.

Let me know if ya need a hand sometime with it. Or any other parts. Im always down to help a local.
