Hey guys! My name is Tyson and I recently picked up a 1986 Pickup, 4-speed, RWD, 22R, 184k mile, super base model to haul my trackbike with. It was $400. I currently own a 1990 BMW 535i(DD), 2004 BMW R1100S(commuter bike), and 1988 Honda Hawk(trackbike). I am planning on selling the 535i and DD the truck because I don't need two 4 wheel vehicles and the car gets 21-23mpg. The truck has lots of body rust but the frame and "parts that really matter" are in good condition. Plans: New tires.(the ones it has now have dry rot and lots of leaky cracks) I've already rebuilt the carb so I just need to put it back on and tune it. Fix parking break. Lower the truck(on the cheap) subtle drop for easier bike loading and practical ride comfort. SR5 gauge cluster. Put a radio in it. Rip out all of the emissions garbage I can without effecting performance/MPGs. Perform pretty much every trick to get the best MPGs possible. Better condition bench or bucket seats. Sound dampening the interior. Eventually I will just replace the box with one that isn't 90% rust/bondo. I have a standard box now..would a long box bolt right on or are the frames different too? I decided to join minis instead of yotatech because this forum seems tighter knit and most of you guys lower your trucks where as yotatech is mostly about jacking up their 4x4 and muddin.
