    79 3/4ton?
I picked up a '79 with a 20r in it, 2 years ago for $200 and wanted to make a reliable trail head/camper/commuter out of it. I new it a had a messed head (epoxy in spark plug holes) so i installed a new head and got it running to find out the #3 rod was shot.
picked up a block for $25 with a crank and rods (that so far look usable, need to plasti) and am going to start swapping soon. I am glad I found this site, everyone seems open to ideas and dedicated and I'm going to need the advice. I'm a motorcycle tech so these gigantic heavy machines are a bit daunting.
I have questions about some model specs. like, mine says 3/4 ton on it???? what does that mean and how do I know if it's a long bed? Also finding it difficult to find canopies, anyone know what words I should be using to search for one!? I keep getting sent to australian sites.
Anyway I know you all want pics so I'll add some soon. Again thanks to the community as a whole for providing this site and forum.

Hey man welcome. Sounds like you scored a deal and a great project. Dont be intimidated if your already a moto tech this will be easy as long as you can read up and understand things on tech sites and chiltons/haynes manuals are very informative almost more than step by step sometimes. With trucks I think when they classify it as 1/2 ton 3/4 ton thats the suspension load it can withstand usually a bigger engine which your is not if its a 20r, frame is stiffer and bigger breaks. This pertains to larger trucks like Fords and Dodge as for toyotas differences Im not 100% on. Canopies, keywords: bed cover, tonneau cover, camper shell, fiberglass shell, etc. companies like LEER, and a few others are american based. And yes PICS PLEASE even if its a pile we like to see progress in the making
