I am trying to put my drop blocks on and I removed the shackles but the axel will not come off the leaf springs. Is there a bolt on the bottom i need to remove? What do i need to do?

I assume you have the truck on jack stands. Put a floor jack under the rear diff and lift it. The weight of the truck should separate them.

And when you say shackles, do you mean the u-bolts or did you pull the springs?

Yah he meant U bolts. The bolt going through middle holds the leafs together DO NOT REMOVE THIS BOLT unless you are removing the middle leaf. Atleast dont remove this bolt with the leafs still mounted to the shackles. What Efnet said should work. Truck on stands then jack under diff pumpkin and they should seperate, however if you have taken U bolts off completly with truck jacked up this should have already happened. Elbow grease can be your best friend

Maybe he only took the bolts off of one side so far. I pulled my middle leaf while the spring pack was still on my truck.

You cant take that bolt off with the axle on the leafs anyway.

Remove all four U bolts, and raise the axle with your jack. If it dnt come loose then u go with the BFH

Ok I got it dropped in the rear. It was completely rusted together. I ended up using a chizel and a hammer to break it loose. It is finished in the rear and i will get pictures. I need to put the drop spindles on now but i have no idea what i am doing. Does anyone have any suggestions to a thread to make this easier on me?
