Pretty much knew it going in with this car, turbos are a tight fit so I can't just run whatever I want. But twin turbos are expensive no matter what. Along with needing a stronger clutch, and needing to flow more air now. But 400+ HP is fun right?

I enjoy both worlds. Fully loaded sleeper, and a basic beater. Lol.

Put them into one package and you'll see my end game. I'm thinking vinyl bed cover, no bed floor, rear mounted radiator and dumb power under the hood... My 78 will never turn decent unless I do a front clip swap to get upgraded geometry so I may as well make it go fast in a straight line.

That is essentially my big project, without the fully loaded part. It would cost a fortune to make a truck handle like my Audi, be just as fast, and have heat/AC, heated seats, power windows, etc, etc. Its a really well engineered car.

I needed the Mercedes on the lift, so my truck got to see some day light.

Seth, why was a draw-through chosen for that build? I realize you say its gonna blow up...is it a one day track car or what?

    Thanks man.

I say it will blow up because of a few things. One the motor is high mileage and already running poorly, then add boost. Two, he doesnt want to buy a few parts that would make it easier to tune and monitor for any issues during the race, since it is for LeMons. He wants to use it in as many races as possible.

Draw through was chosen because it is simple and reliable if done right, and requires less parts than blow through. Its easier, and requires less specialized parts, it can be done with almost all stock parts. Nothing wrong with draw through. I just say its going to blow up mostly because of the owner, and his habits. Its a long story. But he is aware, and has another motor lined up for when this fails. Who knows it might last if I can get it tuned right, and if it does I would like to do something similar to my truck. But hes pushing my deadline up because he signed up for a race that is closer than the one he told me he needed it done by.

I guess I made a good argument this morning, as he okayed an air/fuel meter and a boost gauge. So this thing may actually have some hope. I will just explain how to watch the a/f gauge to him and hope he listens, because he doesn't really notice when things are going wrong.

What do you want to know about it? I have another T3, and plan on building a setup for my truck. But not yet, I need to get it running and do Stage III on the S4 first. Then I can turbo the 22R. I've been doing a ton of research on it, since I am doing this project. I plan on doing it with mostly stock parts, and a Weber carb. I thought about using a screw type blower from a Nissan or something similar as well, and building an intake to support that.

We can do it at the same time and bounce ideas off of each other for problems and solutions. Lol. I should get a lot of experience with what works and doesn't with this car though. I think an A/F gauge is pretty critical.

I am running this one on this car:
    MTX-L Wideband O2 Digital Air/fuel Ratio Gauge

And I will likely use that on mine, or get the one they make with a turbo timer built in:
DB Gauges: Air Fuel Ratio Guage

I'll be running a boost gauge in my truck as well, that matches the oil pressure and voltmeter I just ordered. I was disappointed to see that Autometer doesn't make a matching A/F gauge, but the ones from innovate are close enough and more affordable (and possibly better?). Oil pressure is definitely important to monitor as well.

I've got a lot of it planned out in my head already, so we can talk about it. I dont care if we do it in this thread, then the info will be available to others. I am currently rebuilding his turbo with the carbon seal conversion for draw through.

What are your goals with yours?

And slowly collecting some old school audio for the truck. Customer built me a box to exact recommended space. Its super shallow, so I had to go wide to get the air space.
