Hi. I'm wanting to paint the air vents, and a few other parts of the interior on my truck. I already know how to do it. and I've had my dash pulled apart before. But i've never been able to figure out just how to get the air vents out. Am I going to have to pull it apart completely? or is there an easier way?
A small thin and strong flat tipped screwdriver will take them out with no drama. Look inside the vent and you'll see that one side has two voids coming from the back to the front. That is the side you slide the screwdriver into between the vent and the dash. Put the screwdriver until it stops at the pin and pry out to get the pin to clear the hole in the dash and it'll pop right out.
