    Hi there,

I'm Dave from SoCal. I've lurked here for at least a couple years. Just wanted to say hello finally and say I just picked up a '72 hilux.

Here's a couple images of her:

I also am a member at Toyotanation, Microimageonline, and Yarisworld.

I'm hoping I could learn a few things here. My first question is why didn't the guy give me a valet key, you know, the one that doesn't let people into the trunk?

    Dave/ Fumes.

    Thanks guys.

Got a few dents and surface rust. I'm more concerned with the on and off again electronics and no brake boost.

Sweet I really like the fact the entire truck can fit in the bed of your Tundra hahah. Older Yotas always make for a great learning experience and can make for the coolest dailys in my opinion. If I didnt have 3 newer ones I would probably buy an older one like that. Welcome to TM and enjoy the fun.

Eurofreak, this pic is for you:

You know the truck runs. I'm not used to such an older car, is it supposed to be so loud? It's not an exhaust leak loudness either. There seems to be a lot of loose ends- wires and hoses. Anyone want to give ma detailed pic of their engine bay from many angles so I can compare and start repairs (especially if you have that og engine)?

As you all know these trucks are great learning experiences. I wanted the oldie because of the all metal factor and simplicity in electronics..ie almost none. So I'm wondering if I should tear it down and get the body and frame sand blasted? Does a place like Maaco do sandblasting?--- I'll do the painting at home. Price?
