It's crazy easy, should take less than 30 minutes to complete. Make sure you get as much as you can off the donor vehicle. Once you remove lower dash piece ther eis a 12mm? bolt that clamps the steering shafts together. Take that out, unplug the column switches, thene there are two 14mm? bolts and two nuts. Once you get those off teh whole column steering wheel assembly drops down and you can pull it out. Then just do the reverse in your truck, you dont even have to take the column cover off, and the intermittant wiper is all in the switch and has the same plug, so your good to go.
both amps will be under the seats. Orion xtr375.2 for mids under my seat and an Orion Xtreme500 for subs under the passenger seat
Finally finished up my sub box! It feels so good to have my truck and garage back. Now I need to start on the new door panels.
the 'stacker' center console is from an SR5 pickup (this one is from a 94) and then I got the shift boot portion new from Toyota.
Thanks guys, I was trying to push the OEM look as much as you can with subs. I forgot to mention how much of a difference the decoupling foam and sound barrier made. I only did the cab floor but it cut the road noise a ton. Can't wait to get the doors done. Dcups- Where are you thinking about putting the box, in the rear quarters?
Yeah I was thinking in this area... I have my battery in the rear side cargo bin already. I was thinking either a 10 or 8 on either side...
Thanks! The hood scoop on the green truck was from a subaru legacy, welded and smoothed onto the toyota hood.
Wow, nice build How much to build another box like that? Where did you find the stacker console in grey and the shifter surround? Where did you find 4runner seats in that good of shape?
Hey thanks for the remarks! Honestly I never want to build a box like that again, haha It took way too much time and too much money to be worth it. I'm dreading starting on my door pods. The stacker console is out of a SR5 pickup. I paid about 40 bucks for it but had to drive from Seattle to Portland to the junkyard that had it. I've seen them on ebay for 75 bucks shipped. I bought the shift boot and housing brand new from toyotapartszone.com its from a 1990 Toyota SR5 V6 2WD, it was about $60 bucks shipped. I've been buying and selling SR5 4Runner seats for years on eBay and had this set saved for a while. It also helps that you can put a passenger cover on a driver frame, and since the passenger seats are almost always perfect, I buy 3 seats and make a mint pair. That little fact paid rent while I was in college, lol
Dang, ok, well when you find a clean set in good shape pm me cuz mine are wearing to the white mesh material. I'll check out the website for that shifter... Probably going to take the idea of your box and base mine off it....nice work
