High post counts usually mean one of two things. Either the poster is a tech guru of sorts answering all types of technical questions and/or building stuff for others to learn from. Or they are a babbling bafoon with nothing to say but they are sure to say nothing enough to up that post count. Myself I'm more into the technical side of things but on my "e-home" forum I have just under 25k posts most of which is from being a babbling bafoon. Not a lot of tech on that site but we know how to party.
Yeah I am not very mechanically inclined. I have not dealt with it a lot. This truck is going to be my teacher. That is one reason I bought it. I know a lot about other stuff but not very much of it comes up on this forum. haha.
I have no issue at all with those that are actually willing to learn. The ones that ask a question then do whatever then want to do anyway get no further assistance from me.
What if they just know everyone on the site and like to comment and put in a good word? Or have been a memeber for numerous years? I know what you mean though, been on a few forums that a handfull of kids never input anything useful just a very simple comment like "cool" or the jerks who always talk crap bout everything.
The ones that just reply with a word or two or smilies only are what I'm referring too mostly. they never have anything to say or add just a reply to pad the post count to look intelligent to those that don't know about them on a forum. Being on a forum for a long time surely adds up to the post count but that is generally where the tech guys come into play. I've probably got around 100k posts on various forums and every one of them is a tech based forum.
Alot of my posts came from this thread..... http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/off-topic-12/toyotaminis-chat-forum-2298/ It was our chatting place before we had an actual chat room
