I've heard yes no and big maybe . I have a 85 4 runner with an RE motor. Scored a R motor out of a 84 truck. Will the efi unit bolt right up to the R motor?

 

Whats the manufacture date of your 84 engine? If I recall correctly, they switched to the shorter-block + taller-head setup in august of 84.

 

manf date is late 83. I'm pretty sure the motor has been swapped before though. There is some paint pen or something on the block.

 

If it has the square intake ports, you can swap fuel injection on to it.

Looking at the intake manifold will also tell you.

Soo many combinations of how these motors could be put together is amazing. So use that as a guide.

 

Yup as said if the intake ports are square efi is easy. With an early head you have to use a celica lower intake but it works none the less.
