I have found that I will research something to death and then buy what I find to be the best. But the truth is that the only way to know is own your own, and find out what you should have bought. Well you all own a yota give me your input.

What year / motor / transmission / axles is the best. What years rust themselves out? What are some of the do and do not? What is the situation with spare parts and things that are problematic? Is there a "must have model" or is it each there own? All input is greatly appreciated - even what forums to read. Thanks all in advance.

 

By telling you what's the most desirable, that would increase the value, which would increase the price of these machine that we all wanna get for a steal.

good motor/trans/axle.. 1985 ex. cab toy.

same motor/trans as other years, but the axles came with factory trussing, also the last year of the straight axle. parts are still easy to come by as well. the 86+ trucks with i.f.s. are still very capable trucks, and drive more like a car. my was like driving a car at 75mph on 31" mickey thompson baja's
