hello i am new to the toyota truck world. i have a 1992 2wd standard cab pickup short bed. i origanly bought it to save money on gas and to use it as a daily driver while i worked on other projects. now i have finished my projects so now i want to work on my yota. what i want to do is make it into a drift pickup. i want to put coilovers in front and back, and i want to put on bolt on fender flares and some wide flush wheels. i dont know if any of u are familiar with the tuner world but basicly im gonna make it a tunner truck with perfect wheel to fender fitment. after i get the stance figured out i then would like to either turbo my 22re or swap in a lexus 1uz v8.

    Hellaflush – Fatlace
cars on this website are a huge insperation to me. notice their supper flush wheel fitment

if anyone on here has i truck or a project with familiar components i would love to hear any and all advice u have for me on what works and what doesnt ect...

i will post some piks of my truck soon, she is still stock so hing really to see.

    thanks for reading

Let me know what you want to do. You dont need coilovers, toyota trucks have plenty of aftermarket suspension parts to make it great, I have a drift truck so I point you in the right direction.:waytogo:

That site makes me want to punch babies. "the art of wheel fitment"

I dig making a drift truck and whatnot, I'd do coilovers too. There is so much tuning ability in them that is unmatched in such a nice package. I'm sort of up in the air as to what direction to take my street truck but I'll be able to drift it either way. :D

oh really do u have any pic of your drift truck? what sort of suspension do u use. i want it to be nice and low, i have already lowered mine with blocks in the back but its still not low enough and handles like crap. the only reason i thought coilovers were nice was because i used to have a 240sx nissan with coilovers and it was so nice to drift

I have front and rear addco swaybars, tubular upper control arms, billet cross shafts, tubular strut frame, drop spindles, heimed steering, swayaway torsin bars, all poly bushings, kyb gas adjust shocks which are identical to koni. My 22r is built to the hilt, 9lb fly wheel, exedy clutch, 8" geared and locked up diff, headers, 2.5 exhaust the list goes on. the back would be lower if the wheels cleared the fenders but they dont so I'm stuck with blocks. Otherwise I would have belltech leafs. as it is I can do 85 thru 35 mph turns.:waytogo:

    Welcome to TM!

I like drifting as much as the next guy (can't do it other then in snow but like watching), but not a big fan of the wheels sticking out further than the tire. But I do like the variety of people this site brings and the different versions of similar trucks.

The only thing you need to drift a toyota pickup is a welded diff or lsd

i hear u it is easy to do power slides and things liike that but to actually drift and hold the drift on a track it really helps to have a nice susspension setup. i am goin to look into other suspension setups since a coilover setup would take alot of fab work. and i just moved and now only have a one car garage

My truck visits the track occasionally and does very well, as good as any other 86'. Welding the diff and expecting to have a drift truck is like putting a 350 in your hilux and thinking you have a drag car.

I think you should start with changing the ebrake to a handbrake. I hate trying to initiate with the stock pull out e brake lol:lol: It is easy enough to pull it and start sliding but it is quite hard to turn it again and push it back in while in a violent slide!

I had DJM drop lower arms, bj flip, 69 Camaro KYB gas a just shocks up front and 5 inch de arched leaf springs and 3 inch blocks in the back and man I tell you my truck slid around like a dream. I would of did a handbrake and lsd but I am airbagging it now.

Got another flush drift truck in the making right here man. I'll be doing rx7 irs and coliovers on mine for phase two of the build... Right now I'm focusing on wrapping up this motor swap. I have a hand brake setup i've been working on aswell.

I dont have a handbrake mod just for the fact that my friend never have much luck doing with his truck. Instead I setup my gears loose so all I need to do is let off and stab it on the flick and feather it. But I would say if you can put disc's on the back and set up the handbrake without it slipping you'll be money!:waytogo:

    Good swap there Predracer

My mkiii supra has drums style e brake insde the rotors and then calipers on the outside of the rotor. Maybe you could use that setup and pull it all out of a junker mkiii. Then you wouldn't have to buy new cylinders and run hardlines and buy a check valve. I bet you could just use the cable and the handbrake and everything. And then mount the handbrake on the tranny tunnel.
Toyota Previa vans have this setup too and Sienna
