Do you have to change your internals, pistons etc., in order to run a supercharger with a low boost??

They started making blowers for R series engines before there were any really good and easy engine swaps available. You can go all out and have a ten thousand dollar R series that puts out under 300 hp or just stick a 3rz in there with a turbo and have driveable power that isn't finicky for under two grand.

Don't get me wrong I like the R series engines but they have practical limitations. As a matter of fact I'm building a decent performance engine right now. :D

But to answer your question upgraded internals aren't required but if you want to really polish that turd and crank the boost up forged low compression "turbo" (22ret) pistons are recomended.

I agree! Slap in a 2rz or 3rz and a simple turbo kit and you will run around 230-300hp easy on a stock motor @ 8psi. :waytogo:

What is it like mounting a 2rz or 3rz motor in a 89-94 pickup? Can you find motor mounts for it?

^ I'd like to know too. I'm trying to decide to upgrade my 3.0L V6 (2JZ) or do a swap.

I like to keep things toyota and 2rz and 3rz motors are more available than the 2jz. Also, these motors do great under boost. :waytogo:

You will need to mock up engine mounts and from what my buddy figured out back home is that LCE sells a oil pan to do the swap.

    2rz - 142hp/160tq *FYI Handles boost better*
    3rz - 150hp/177tq

TURBO all the way bro!!! I've gone supercharged and turbo is the way to go. Far more options when you go the turbo route! :waytogo:
