im going to be tackling the timing chain in my truck here in a few weeks. i have never done anything like this before and while my dad will be helping i would like some advice or tips from anyone who has done a 20r before. i dont wanna over complicate things and think too much so any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!!! thanks
Ruffles: I replaced mine as part of my motor refresh. Now Granted, I had everything apart and the motor out, but the manual covers how to do it pretty well. Just follow the steps in there and you will be fine.
my chilton instructions even had the infamous hidden bolt that connects head to timing cover from the top right under distributor, hidden in a puddle of oil. RTV in the corners where head, block, and timing cover meet. oil pan might have chunks of plastic if timing guides are broken.. not too bad, never done one before and just finished mine.. just need to put it back in the truck now...
