I swapped to 84-88 spindles and balljoints, and modded the lower arms to accept them and made my own uppers. Only way you can get a drop spindle. These things get ridiculous camber with stock spindles. This was stock spindles:
[IMG] There was literally NO ROOM for a bag. My upper arm was nearly 90 degrees from the ground. Retarded.

As far as updates, its at the bodyshop probably not getting worked on much.

Do you have any pics of how you modded the lower c-arms? What mods had to be made?

You have to angle the arm before the balljoint, so that it doesnt bind.

I found the pictures from when I did it.

Make sure to cut it behind the balljoint mounting holes, and gusset it either inside the arm or outside. I decided it looked better plating it inside the arm.

Its pretty easy, just pie cut and bend.

You can use newer Toyota arms, but it will push your wheels out about 1/2" on each side. And if you want to tuck, that will kill you right there because my tires are about 3/8" away from the fender on the way down.

this truck is so sweet. would you have to create new mounts for the newer toy arms or would it pretty much just bolt up? anymore update?

were you able to keep the stock front brakes with the drop spindles or did you have to use 84-88 brakes?

    Very nice build.

I was just browsing the net looking for other people into the older hilux's then I stumbled on this board and saw this thread

Even had to tell my grandma about your truck.

Seems like the last update you did was about 5mo ago. has it been enuff time for bed install and paint? Feels like I read everything but the last chapter of a great book that was never finished

Seth has a street souce profile.http://www.streetsource.com/viewownerprofile.aspx?profileid=38809 It's listed as a 1980 lexus 220 for some wierd reason. The cab is now painted a flat light blue and the bed is still in the works.

Sorry I have not been on in a long while. My truck looks much different now.

Its listed as a Lexus because of the wheels, and the grill emblem. The 220 is for engine size. I am planning on modifying my valve cover to also say Lexus.

so this is the truck i'm madly in love with!!!!! LOL

saw this beast on SSM.com and went nuts for like a week on it! :D

Love what you've done, and sorry, i didn't read the other posts, but what size wheels are u running? an i'm guessin you either had an automatic or are puttin one in b/c there's not Clutch Master Cylinder there. Which sucks for me if that's the same size or smaller than what wheels i wanna run.
