So my girlfriend has a 80' toy 20r 4spd and would like to go with a auto tranny. What are our options when doin a swap like this and what are the cost. Id appreciate any help.

yea that would be amazing.

 

could look into celica/corona stuff.. i got my 20r with auto trans from a corona, im sure driveshaft/crossmember might need some fab work. but would be your best bet to find one.

 

yea its got a built frame anyways. Im gonna have to look more into that.

 

did a lil researching, and looks like the newer trannies will bolt up as well,20r/22r same bellhousing bolt pattern. but i dont know if/how much computer controlled the newer auto's might be. where the old ones are all mechanical old school. simple.. still gonna be a harder find to get an auto, I hardly see any auto stuff, maybe some celica guys have extras from 5 speed swaps?

 

find an auto from a 84-88. have you tried cal mini dismantlers ? you might also need a different throttle linkage. dont they have a kickdown cable?
