so i think im gona buy a 1975 toy longbed 2wd with 270k+ (maby 170k but i doubt it) it runs strong and has been taken care off and pending passing smog, i think its worth a G, And thats the deal...but then i think...its almost 300k miles how long could it really run for? i dont have experiance with toyotas just VWs and i know the VW diesel can run 400k if pampered, but i dont know about gas toys...i want this baby to run at least another 80-100k befor i put out thousand of dollars on a compleat rebuild or new motor...how likely is that? ill take as good a care as i can...i dont plan on rompin' it or racing but i do plan on loading it up for the dump or whatever. as a daliy driver will she be reliable? will i be shelling out left and right just to keep it on the road? any of your experiance would be helpful...

The engine is what requires the most maintaince. If you take care of it it can last you a long time. Just gotta do timing chain and head gasket. If the previous owner just did those it will last another 100K. If not, doing it will last you another 100k. The engines and trans usually outlive the truck. If the seller only wants 1000 and your not going to grab it pass the guys info on to me and ill pick it up. Let me know.

I heard of someone on here that had almost 600k miles on his 70s toyota. I believe the motor should last you another 100k if you take care of the motor.

my yota has 377k on it when the orig motor died, the ONLY maintenance besides your typical oil changes etc, that was ever done to the motor, was in the upper 270k-300k range the timing chain tore into the water pump and the chain and pump had to be replaced. Orig 4speed never required any maintenance, engine never had a rebuild. The only reason it died was because my brother let it burn oil until there was none left and locky locky.
