hey guys i jus joined tha site and i have a chance to buy a nice 1990 toyota thats lowered on 18s and a few other mods. if i get it i intend on bagging it and i have done some minimal research on baggin a yota. i've bagged a few other trucks in my time so tha bag scene isn't new to me. my buddy has his own lil shop so when it comes to fab work and tools i'm good, now for my questions. in tha rear i pretty much have a idea on what i want to do. i'm gona do either tha frowned on 2link or reverse 4link and raise tha gastank xmember. how hard is it exactly to raise tha xmember? and for tha front i've never even had a torsion bar truck, so how hard is it to bag? i know it has to b z'd but how much do i needa cut off and is there any floor clearance problems? how far from laying up front b4 i z it will i b with stock spindles and with drop spindles? i'm gonna b running 18s with 215 35s or 17s with 225 35s. i jus wanna get a good idea on how much of a problem this will b for me to get done. i have another vehicle to drive but at tha sametime i don't want this one sitting around for 3 or 4 months to get done. any answers or pics would b very appreciated guys. thanks!!!!
For the torsion bars all you do is unbolt them take them out find your nearest dumpster an place them in it. I believe it 1.25" to 1.5" from not laying out without the Z. Also you'll need a tranny crossmember raise the exhaust aswell. The Z will be in front of the firewall so no floor issues. Try to stay away from a 2 link go with either a forward or reverse 4 link. Or you could do a forward 3 link and keep the stock gas tank location just raise it up.
is mounting the brackets hard or kinda self explainatory*? bc my ibeam ranger was a bitch. so is that 1.25-1.50 after getting drop spindles as well?
With or without drop spindles your gonna have to Z it the same amount. You really don't need drop spindles at all if I remember correctly. Bag brackets are self explanatory. There will be a" hump" on the frame behind where the shock goes you'll cut tht out and level all the way down plate the gap tht goes to the engine crossmember making it flat all the way down and for 18s and smaller there will be a little hole on the frame and you have the upper bracket go level with tht like this. This is mine
Go to CanDo Installs on MySpace. There is a step by step photo extravaganza on their site. Look at the 600+ pics of the Project Anti-Hack build. These photo's will give you a real good idea of what you're getting yourself into. Good luck.
ok thanks guys for all tha input. like i said i'm not new to bags and me and my buddys and def do sum in depth fab work. 1 of my friends jus zd his c10 to lay out so i'm sure we can do this one, jus didn't want to go into blind like i did my ranger. but how hard is it to raise tha gas tank x member exactly? and is this what tha truck would look like not zd layed on 17s? http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/2641/4041/6602020012_large.jpg found that on google images lol
Yah thats exactly what id look like not Z'd however I think it had atleast drop spindles or BJ flip cause this is my truck just bagged in front No 4 link and front sits lot higher than that one.
damn dude nice truck. thanks for all tha input guys. ne other helpful info and pics would b appreciated. i've emailed steve at cando sum 2day and must say i'm very pleased with how fast he responds and tha helpful info. i'm gona b getn tha yota tm. i'll post pics when i do.
Drop spindles make a BIG difference Not only do you get closer to the floor with less work but drop spindles help out on camber and BJ binding issues. Here's a picture of my truck before the body drop. At the time it had: raised tranny cross member, raised exhaust, 2" drop spindles, BJ flip on the top and bottom arms and NO Z up front. When layed out, the trucks engine cross member was about 1/4" away from completely laying frame. Hope this helps
