okay, so i just found out today that there is a company that makes the brackets to install a 89-95 bumper on the 84-88 trucks. I have seen it a lot and even already have the bumper, but i thought it was going to be an easy home made adapter bracket or some simple fab work. on www.fbirides.com they have the brackets for 60 bucks, but they look to me to be somewhat weak. They do not look very structurally sound and give me the feeling that if i were to use the adapter brackets and put on my new bumper, that i could jump on the bumper and bend those brackets. From what i can tell they are not boxed in at all. Do any of you have a set of these brackets or have seen them to give a quick comment or review on them? Are they strong enough to handle the job or just some thin bracket that's a waste of money? I figure 60 dollars is a fair price to pay for a cleanly done machined cad designed part with proper measurements and tolerances already taken.
thought it was rollpans.com or some sh!t like that. but anyway, yea theyre brackets are weak and never line up proper without your own modification to them. Ive never owned a set but thats what ive read over and over and over and over and......well u get the idea
yea when you type in fbirides it does link you directly to the new name, roll pans, but i figured some structural bracing maybe needed to them. It's hard to estimate the gauge of the metal from the pictures.
Haha rollpans.com having AutoCAD machined parts that's funny. Those brackets work. They are not for strenght just to make the bumper mount and yes you do need to redrill holes in the brackets since most times body's of cars tweak over time. You could use a vise dremel ans metal cutting jigsaw and make your own. If cando has them its probably legit cause Steve doesn't sell garbage
well i don't mind paying a little extra for quality, and i see it's made from 3/16" which will work just fine since i think the stock brackets are close to that.
