5 speed conversion

    okay i need to clarify with somebody on here when doing a manual conversion do i also need to put the dashpot in thats located right on the throttle body???

    There is nothing related to the trans on my throttle body.

    The only thing on the throttle body that relates to the A340 series auto is the bell crank for the throttle valve cable. Everything else is the same, the only differences otherwise are emission related.

    im talking about when swapping to a 5 speed. go look at a haynes repair book than you'll folks know what im talking about. its called dashpot theres a vacuum hooked up to it....

    I've done it both ways. The dashpot slowly closes the TB so the engine burns the fuel completely. It's really not that big of a deal to run without it, the TB will just close faster.

    I'll stick ny my original answer it doesn't matter auto or manual. I removed it from my truck along with all the emissions crap years ago.

    my main concern was will it mess with my emissions...
    will it fail when its the next time to get it smogged

    jus take off the other cable at the throtle body its for the govenor on the trans ( im pretty sure) and the little "dashpot" is so when you at full throtle or whatever besides idle, when you take your foot off the gas its like a little cushion that kinda slowly shuts the tp. without it after u rev it and suddenly take your foot off the gas the truck may stall.
