My name is Wally, and I am a complete idiot. I like to take on projects that make no damn sense, but turn out fairly well. Car muffler on a bike? Why not? I'm waiting on H&R Block to get me my money, that way I can give 2g's to a buddy at work who has a 91 shorty 22re/5spd that needs rims and tires, drop spindles, air arms, and a battery wire. It is already bagged and running(other than the wire), and has a triangulated 4 link out back Gonna redo the back as little as possible just moving as much as I can under bed-level and building a quick removable plate to cover the holes so I can use it to haul my stunt bike around. I already have 2 18x7.5 2008 Merc Mountaineer steelies ordered.. I had 4 ordered, but they only had 2 in stock. She will look funny rolling on steelie 18's up front (to clear the new spindles) and 14 steelies out back Gotta find two more on the cheap. Next year at tax time, I'll either pick up an LCEngineering powerplant for her, or if the current motor is still running strong, I might just get their low boost turbo kit. My automotive background is mostly concerning fast vehicles: 1985 Corvette z-51, 1987 Fiero GT, 1990 300ZX, 1991 240sx, 1996 supercharged (10 lbs of intercooled boost) 1 of 1 Saleen S281(my current daily) , 2002 S2000, 2003 WRX. I've also had a couple of offroaders: 1986 Cherokee Wagoneer, 1999 Wrangler, and a bottle-fed built 1997 AWD CR-V. I've only had one actual truck, which is a 1986.5 single cab hardbody, which is currently rotting in my driveway due to a blown motor. It really isn't worth the effort of building her, due to fairly substantial front end damage that she had when I bought her for $450. I drove her for 2 years and she got great gas mileage. One day I might drop $300 to put a junkyard motor in her just to have one more drivable. My current idea involves figuring a way to build an emergency fill system for a bag setup that involves a 70ci 4500psi hpa paintball tank. I have three that have regulated outputs between 600 and 850 psi, and I'm certain I can get it down to 200 psi, then regulate flow by line size to make it a fairly safe option. I'm thinking a direct mount gauge on a line to the tank, then a manual valve, then a one-way, and then a way to hook out the output on a self purging on-off for the bottle, that way I can make it a screw in as needed setup. Who knows, It might work well enough that I can do a write-up of everything to buy to build one's own emergency bottle. HPA bottle can be filled with either scuba air or straight nitrogen, so it is good stuff. Any ideas? Oh, and I'm the last person that looks like they would fit in a mini, but I'll only drive a fullsize for work. I'm 6'5, 300lbs, pierced, lots of nerd tats, and a mohawk. That last pic is from October before last, so the 'hawk is a BIT longer... I can't wear it up any more due to its length, but I due wear a hat so that people think it is a mullet. I call it my white trash/redneck camo...
LOL kinda huh with the mirror pic and such. Hopefully H&R Block gets his money to him quickly so there is a toyota pic in there somewhere.
I went and saw the truck Sunday night. The guy sellin it to me has been talking it down this whole time. When I saw it, there wasn't any body damage, and the suspension work looked great. Turns out he has never sold a car before, so he was trying to be super honest with me. H&R block told me that the IRS has accepted my filings as of last Tuesday, and my money should be in the bank 8-15 days from then. The IRS is also buying me a Planet Eclipse Ego11 with full barrel set and eportal package. Gott love tax time. The mirror pic was to show the Mohawk. That was a year and a half ago, so it is WAY longer now. Also, I introduced myself as well as I could so folks would have an idea of how to respond to me if I ask a technical question. Also, it helps if you know that I'm batsh*t crazy.
We didn't get our refund til the morning after the day that the IRS website said our funds would be released.
Welcome and cant wait to see this yota. So in the mean time why dont you put up some pics of all these other rides you say you had? No pics then didnt happen.
There are quite a few pics of his rides in first post man atleast i can still see them. I have yet to get my taxes back, I hate having to itemize EVERYTHING. Cant wait to see another yota man let us know when you gits it.
I don't have pics of most of my rides. Never really took any. I'm old enough that most of the automotive toys I've owned, I owned them before the popularity of digital photography and online forums. There is are only two major problems I see on the yota I'm about to buy: 1. The front upper bag mounts didn't look like they were quite high enough, so that when it is layed out, the bags are COMPLETELY collapsed, and are hard sandwiched between the upper and lower brackets. Drop spindles or moving the brackets up an inch will fix this. And.. 2. Reinforced garden hose isn't the best airline. Went yesterday to pay $1000 down on my Ego11 since the owner of the local field ordered it for me with no down payment, and on the way out of town, I heard a horrible snapping sound. The idler pulley on my supercharger, well, the bearings exploded. I was able to turn her around, get her up to about 90, put her in neutral, and shut her off and coast a couple of time to get her to the only shop I trust the Saleen to. 3 hours later, we had pulled the p1sc headunit, swapped another idler in(it was an extra idler I had that I was using as a tensioner on the longest straight run of belt to stop belt slap), and got back on the road. After dropping off the down payment, I got an email from H&R Block telling me that the money will be in my account Monday, and that it should be accessible Tuesday. I'll probably grab the other $400 I owe Mr. Keith from the bank, along with the $2000 this guy wants for the truck, and have a buddy drive me to Dothan to pick it up. With any lucky, there will be enough in my federal return to also pay for insurance and tags. If not, I'll get it to the house, yank the fuse box out, and title it as a temporarily non-streetable vehicle, which gives me an indefinite amount of time to insure and tag it. If that is the case, I'll get Big mike to bring his welding gear over so I can get Clara to move the brackets up for me (She is WAY more pratical mechanic that I could ever hope to be. My skill-set is more on the diagnostic and engineering side of things). So hopefully I'll have pics of her in my driveway by Wednesday or Thursday! Now If I can just figure out how to move all this crap around to make room in the driveway...
Got the truck to the house... solenoid and wiring for the compressors went out an hour from the house... hooked a wire to the compressor side of the solenoid, and ran it up to the battery. Ran it to about 140, and filled the bags up, and then ran it back up to 140... Turns out one of these stupid lines(fill line going to the right rear) is leaking at the fitting. Pulled it, shortened it, and hooked it back up, and it still wont hold. Oh well. These fittings and this line is going to go away as soon as I can afford dot line and fittings. I guess I won't be driving it until then anyways. I need to find a decent solenoid(or relay, or whatever) for a two compressor setup, and I'll run all new good wire to the battery. Anyways, on with the pics! UP! Compressors, tank, valves, and line! Front(down)! And the Saleen is behind her. In the grass! One of the neat things about the way the lines are run is that when you pancake it, it dumps all the air under the bed, and it shoots and dust or sand or leaves near the edge of the bottom of the bed out! Kinda cool, if you ask me. This is going to be an adventure, considering that I have no practical experience with air ride systems, and this things has a crazily wired 10-switch box, and on some of the switches, out is up and in is down, and on others it is reversed, and none of them are legibly labeled... I think I'm going to buy a nice pre-wired 9-switch box, since it should be like 6 wires to hook up (one for each valve, and a power and ground, I'm guessing). Well, at least I'm halfway decent with wiring...
The truck is sweet. Did someone start it as a project did the bags then sell it? haha I do like the sound of the bags dropping air out the bottom.
Yeah, he plumbed it using what he did just so he could play around with it, and he quit working on it a WHILE back. Let's just say that the last set of tags on it expired in 09. If I can get the interior, plumbing, wiring, and carputer in it an running good, I'll be pretty happy with myself. I would, however, like to get her painted. Not sure if I'm going to get her grafittied up, or if I am going to get her painted Mica Black on the bottom and World Rally Pearl Blue on top(and the bumper)...
