hey folks. just picked me up a 1980 toyota sr5. its in decent condition, but it was mainly a work truck. right now it is being recommissioned as a bbq delivery vehicle. plans for the truck? make it into a better truck. not break it, but fix it so its better than when it came from the factory. put in a better cam to increase the towing power, webber, and a header. i will also do a brake upgrade. untill then, who knows? anyone got any suggestions on some suspension work to make it not a death trap? and... my for fun car ( red one on the right )
heh. yeah right. The red rx7 has no intentions of delivering any more bbq. why? bnr stage 4, haltech platinum sport 2000, and huge ass ****ing injectors. maybe 400 wheel hp? i also have a 79 rx7. so i am a mazda person. i know more about spinning triangles than pistons. anyways, if anyone has any info on what i plan to do to this truck, then let me know. is a 4x4 swap hard to accomplish?
Yeah my heart nearly stopped when I saw 1950.... Now I want to BBQ! Where are you from man? I'm hungry!
yeah. i didnt notice the typo untill someone mentioned it. i was thinking sr5 the whole time and instead of hitting 1980, i hit 1950. lol. it will get me a lot of "o shiiiiiiii..... damn." responses. question. how do i adjust my throttle pump? i mash the gas while in gear in low rpms, and it falls on its face, and then goes. im going to have to look better for a writeup on how to do it, but all i can find is info on 22r carbs, and i have a 20r.
Welcome to TM! I've always been a fan of RX7's, the wife had an '83 when we were dating. That was fun to drive.
yeah. i know tons of people here in rx7 land. by the way, i found some online documentation just now on adjusting the 20r carb, so i will take a look at it and do some measurements with the micrometer and see how far out of spec things are.
thanks man. i picked it up from the 2nd owner who owned it from 1982 till now. all paper work and documentation. its pretty amazing this thing. 207k miles and the head has never been removed. $900 cash
