D-Ruler, THIS is the cowl hood I have been looking for that goes with the factory lines. If you can make one EXACTLY like this for the 89-95 then you have a new customer. I have been searching the net for 8 years for a cowl hood for my 93 and everyone I seen looks exactly like the one on the blue pickup you posted. I have been looking for one that uses the factory lines. James
the red one in the pic is an 84-88 and it does follow the factory lines for an 84-88, the 89-95 lines don't spread like the 84-88 they run pretty much paralell to each other so the blue one runs closer with the factory lines. If you want me to build you a custom, one off hood using the scoop off the 84-88 I can. It'll run you about 600.00
Question How are these made? Are they shot with a gun or are they hand layed sheets? Also, is the underside smoothed or rough? finally, the mounting, are the mounts steel reinforced at the screw mounts/latch? Thanks, Al
All my hoods are hand laid matt (I don't use a chopper gun, they make crap parts). I lay all my own glass, I don't hire it out (that way I know I'm sending out quality). The hinge area is reinforced with 1/4" steel and the latch loop is 1/4" stainless rod. The underside is totally smooth just like the top. The hood weighs about 25 lbs. That describes my hoods and a small portion of the process, a process I've spent the last 20 years perfecting, so I'm gonna keep the rest to myself.
Anyone have better pics of this hood? I'm thinking of grabbing one later when I get to that point, but would like better pics of it.
That sale price was posted Oct. 2010 to 12-23-10 but if you really want one and you act quick before I change my mind I'll sell you one at the sale price. I have 1 in stock and my resin supplier says resin is going up again so you'll prolly never see that price again.
