Was checking on a pair of hubcentric 20mm wheel spacers as an option for installing a set of mazda speed rims i got. I have a theory that by using them i would ruin my bearings by placing the unsprung vehicle weight farther out and on the edge of the bearings. Has anyone used these and if so how'd they work out for you? The only plus I see of using these ,instead of center boring a little to clear my hub grease cap, are to flush out my wheel wells. Any input?

Yes, it could put more stress on the bearings, but it all depends on the offset of the wheels to begin with. Ideally the wheel would be centered over the bearing set.
That being said, I've run 25mm spacers for over 2 years now and haven't had any issues. I don't think it will be a problem for the toyota bearing design.

as mentioned, it's totally dependant on the starting width and offset of the wheels. If the spacers bring the aftermarket centerline in line with the bearing like the stock rims, you'll see less wear than without.

What's the offset and width of the new rims?

If you're not driving it offroad, and you don't let the bearings get loose, you will have no problems. I've put many offroad miles on trucks with 1.5" wheelspacers front and rear. Street driving puts much less stress on all suspension components. Just jack it up and check them every oil change or so.

so basically the closer we get to 0 offset, the better

Well, no... The closer we get to the factory offset, the better. If that happens to be zero, then yes.

Thanks for all the good input fellas. I been doin some research on offset and how much of a spacer i'll need to put back everything into alignment. After some quick measurement of the rim to hub i've done i see i'm goin to need spacers reguardless to make these rims work. At least 15-20 mm spacers for proper alignment.

+/- a little will be OK. I don't think I've ever seen under 25mm/1" bolt ons and I wouldn't use plate spacers that thick even w/ longer studs.

I ordered 2 pairs of hubcentric 20mm the other day off of ebay. When I did the math on a couple websites calculators they all came up for 17mm compensation for the setup i'm gonna run. So I went with the 20mm if found for a little over by 3mm. I hope i don't have to hack my studs to make um flush with the spacer, that i would be a little more than pissed at myself. Hopefully all works when i get um in cause i'm tired of runnin stockies, truck looks ultra grandpa status at the moment.

so they don't stick out past the spacer. The stock studs aren't very long tho. also check that there aren't holes in the wheels that will keep them from hitting before you go hacking anything

Just got my spacers in the mail today and they look sick, especialy the hubcentric middle cnc piece. Wish i had the time to put em on already to see the fitment and everything but its gonna have to wait till friday. Working 2 jobs kills the free time but that's the price of paradise. Thanks for all the input guys i'll definately post pics of the finished product.

oh yea, make sure you torque em RIGHT. I saw a guys wheel pass him on the track cause he didn't. F***ed the wheels (X4), F***ed the spacers (X4), plus the embarrassment and I don't know what all damage to the car on the corner that it came off on.

Fo sho on the torquing of the nuts. I got more than enough wrench experience and education to pull a rookie move like that. Thats why God invented the torque wrench and red loctite. I'll snap studs on this (probably 100whp on a good day) beast b4 the nuts walk out on me.
