Ok, I've been looking at getting wheels for my truck but every shop in town is telling me because of the offset and center hub I can't get anything bigger than a 16". Then why is it I see these trucks with 18's and 20's all day long? I even asked them that with no answer except a . Can someone please help me out?
because every shop in town has to go by some policies or something. like a +1/+2 upsize rule or something. its stupid.
I know how you feel, went through something similiar by calling Tire Rack on the wheels I wanted. Guy told me they won't fit, I said the heck they won't, I saw them on a rear wheel drive, 97 Tacoma, same lug pattern, he basically hung up on me. I would reccomend going to Les Shcuab (I can't spell but you know what I mean), ask to speak to a manager directly, tell him what you want, ask him to help you find the right size, offset, lug pattern the whole ball of wax. Thats what I did and got the wheel I wanted, he ordered 1 wheel, made a fitment appointment even took a micrometer to it to measure everything I did my homework, found my wheel, name manufacturer everything, even took in a picture, do this and you should get the wheel you want. My wheels are 18 x7.5, (I personally did not want any bigger than a 18 on my truck) with a 42 mm offset, I cannot remember if its positive or negative though. I hope this helps, I know I was irratated too. The manager said the guy at Tire Rack is just an operator and really will not talk to consumers only distributors. Well, why didn't he just tell me that in the first place, instaead of telling me they would not fit when I know they would? Good luck
Heres a bonus, proof, print these off and take with you just in case Les Schaub says we don't do that, yah you do, heres the pictures and your a nation wide company, I like to cover all avenues when I do a project. You should be able to get what you want, I hope all this helps you out
Those wheels look good! I won't do Les Schwab, too many issues with them in the past. They were also one of the shops that said they couldn't get anything. I found some wheels at Commercial Tire. The guy there called his wheel dealer and he said the same thing, that nothing would fit it. He called his bluff and told him they would fit and that his son has a similar wheel on his 84 Yota. So I am ordering the wheels tomorrow, should be in by wednesday. Not gonna put them right away being winter and all, but these are the them, 18x8 with a +40 offset...
Congradulations, those wheels look great and glad to hear everything is going to work out with the fittment, yah I would wait until spring to get them mounted, does the truck get to sit in a garage, nice and protected? What size tires are you going to run, I'm runing a 215/35/18. Great to hear about the truck getting bagged, are you going to get it body dropped as well.? Good luck and post up the pics as the truck progresses Have a great weekend!
whats the big deal man, got on ebay, they dont care if it fits or not.. if you need to bore the centers out its only like 10 bucks a wheel...
Nope, its my daily. This is what I came out to last wednesday... I have studded snow tires on it right now. I think they were talking about a 225/40-18 but I probly won't get tires right away since the won't go on the truck til spring. No bodydrop but will lay frame. Oh yeah, I'll post pics. Two local petitioning members of Freaks of Nature are doin the work.
what the hell is all that on your truck! Is that what they call snow? gonna be low 80s here over the weekend! Yup i said 80s in December!
And it was still coming down when I took that pic at 9 am. It finally stopped around 2 I think. The crappy thing is that was wed. the 1st, and now its all gone cause it warmed up a little and rained alot.
