Ok, Ive done my searching on here, And havent found too much yet, Looking for people that have made their own tranny x member. I just finished my suicides and my all out bed project, Now its time to get this thing laid all the way out, I have all the tools to make a nice setup, Just looking for pics of aftermarket ones (Twisted, Illusive, Cando etc) installed or what you did to get yours flat. Any advice or links to posts I missed would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

it is made of 2x1x.062 tube, with 4" od tube for the exhaust. i made it so the exhaust and trans could be removed separate of each other.

Bernie, that thing is awesome. I wish I'd have known that, I'd have snatched that up in a heartbeat. The Cando crossmember is simpler, but you have to route the exhaust above or below it.

If you don't mind, I may use the cut-out idea for a future exhaust mod....

very nice, I got some 2x1 left from my bed framing and some 4 inch pipe from making my taillight buckets, that 4 inch is a little thinner then that though, How does the exhaust hole seperate? And is there any kinda of bushing or does the rubber mount set on that?

Ended up cutting down my stock crossmember down and plating the bottom up with 3/8 steel plate, cut down the stock mount piece and gussested it all up and bolted it to the x member with grade 8 1/2 bolts

Burnzya I might steal your design if that's cool? I got a question though. Is there bushings on the ends or is it just the bolt goin through it?

go for it!! i hate seeing the exhaust ran through a solid x-member. it's faster to make, but a real pain the first time it needs to be removed.. lol

sorry for the late reply, the exhaust hole tube is 2 pieces, so the bottom unbolts from the top, allowing the exhaust to drop out.

go for it!! :D the bolts go thru the tube, for piece of mind i'd recommend installing a crush tube into the x-member for each hole.

it was made for a 84-95 toy. i actually used your measurements when i modded a x-member for joe (toy boy) lol

yeah i dropped it. i can't remember how much, but it was the amount that he said it needed. i seem to recall 4.25" back, and 3/4" down or something like that.

it was 4" tall, and 32.75" long, with the frame mounts being staggered to account for the angled frame section.
