I'm a big fan of Toyota minis. I owned an 1986 toyota pickup and did some prelim. work to it but was too young and stupid and i traded it for a 92 honda accord, (one of the dumbest things i've ever done) Now I'm trying to redeem myself with my recently purchased 1970 Hilux. I'm excited and very lost as to parts so I will be looking to everybody in the Mini community for help, advice, and guidance. Looking forward to meet as many of you as possible. Peace.
Welcome to TM, glad to ave ya. I to used to own a 88 toy and went and parked in the garage and my self also a 92 accord. Still got the accord but no more 88. Got my self a 94 now. So whats the plans? We need some pics?
Welcome to TM! Good to see another Idahoan on here, there are very few of us. What part of Idaho? Everyone on here is very knowledgable, especially when it come to the older Hilux's. And yes, pics please. We here at TM are a bunch of pic junkies! Doesn't matter what you have or what you did to it, gotta post pics.
Here are some pics of My Hilux. It is in some desperate need of some TLC, the guy that owned it had it in his back yard on blocks. He had good looking rims for it and it starts right up, but that is as far as the PROS go.(that and it is a toyota hilux!) It has significant rust so it will need a lot of sheet metal work. It currently has no brakes(which I am working on now) and will need a new dash and upholstery. I will keep you posted on the progress as I move along, I am sure I will need help and guidance. Tell me what you guys think! Peace
Looks good! Its cool that it still has the original fender lights. Any custom plans for it or just restoring it?
Restore Man all the way, these are beautiful pickups. I want it to LOOK as close to original as possible, with some modern upgrades. Cragar wheels, maybe white walls, shaved door handles, suicide doors, stereo and sound system, maybe a/c. I'm sure I'll add more to that list as i progress through the restoration but it's a good starting point. The more pics i see of the great builds that have been performed by the members on this site/club, the more ideas i get. I'm sure the more I see the more ideas I'm going to get. Advice and suggestions are welcome. Peace.
Nice! You gonna be doin all the work yourself? What area do you live? I know some guys that could help with the custom stuff if need be.
As much as I possibly can, or should I say as much as my limited body work and mechanical expertise. I'll definitely need help with the metal work on the severe rust issues this Lux has. I'm in the Pocatello area. I'm going to give you a shout as soon as I begin the custom stuff. Thanx. Peace
